Who, us?

Jenna’s Story:

About 5 years ago, I was at a dinner party and one of the other guests came up to me and asked slyly “Who are you?”  The answer I stumbled upon didn’t really satisfy her, nor did it satisfy me, and I’ve been striving to answer that question ever since.  Self awareness is a tricky thing: it requires a constantly updated and ever changing answer, and as such, what I write today may not be true of me tomorrow.  However, here’s the heart of it as I am now:

I’m an ex-New-Yorker-soon-to-be Australian, living on the Central Coast (for all the Americans who don’t know Australian geography, I’m about an hour and a half north of Sydney, on the East Coast of Oz), playing percussion and singing with a group known as the Rhythm Hunters.  I’m a self-trained masseuse and healer, an optimist, an internet junkie, a voracious reader of sci-fi and fantasy, a cat-lover, a dancer when the mood strikes, a feminist, a lover, and a mediator, as well as someone who enjoys listening to the rain when curled up in bed, hiking towards unknown destinations, and occasional meditation.  I love myself, but it took 23 years for me to get there, and some days are harder than others– I’m still learning how to value myself.  I am stubborn, and believe in saying “yes” to the universe and seeing where that takes me.

I am (and I believe in this with full humility) someone interesting, and worth knowing.  I care a lot, and do my best to give and receive kindness and joy.  That being said, I am blunt as hell, and have very few filters.  If you’re friends with me, you probably know more than you want to about my sex life, when I last farted, and what I think about Religion (Hint:  I’m with Dawkins on this one).

I hang out with musicians, circus performers, artists, backpackers, writers, and dreamers, but they all have one thing in common:  they have a passion.  If you’re passionate about something, then we will probably get along.  My personal blog can be found at http://jennahasnoidea.wordpress.com

Rachel’s Story:

I’m a small town girl with views about everything in this world, this universe and beyond. I live an hour north of Sydney, NSW, on the Central Coast where I was born and raised. Words are my chocolate, and I’m truly grateful that I get to write for a living. I’m strangely gregarious for a writer, and I’ll do almost anything to hear a good story, or even a bad one.

I love living simply, writing,  picking fresh fruit and veggies, watching science fiction, Facebook, playing darts, drinking Mojitos, my iPad and my ginger cat, Magic.
